The most effective and unique steering brace ever made for Dodge Ram trucks, the Dodge Off Road Steering Brace is our patented answer to the problems associated with Dodge steering boxes. The steering is setup is a push-pull system, where the steering box takes a horizontal load on the sector shaft that it was never designed to handle. This causes the steering boxes to wear out quickly and eventually start leaking fluid as the seals break down. The result is poor steering control, wandering, and sometimes death wobble. Our steering brace supports the sector shaft and prevents it from moving side to side by using a large 2 bolt flange bearing that is greaseable and replaceable.
Other steering braces tie both frame rails in together, which allows the frame flex that is prevalent on Ram trucks to twist on the sector shaft as the brace itself is twisted. Ours is the only brace that does not allow frame flex to exert any force onto the steering box, thanks to it's unique one-sided design. We also use better materials than most brace manufacturers - all 1/4" construction, 1/4" wall tubing, a high quality bearing, and all Grade 8 hardware. The brace is powder coated semi-gloss black and has detailed instructions for installation, which usually takes 15 minutes. You will notice that your truck has tighter steering, drives straight down the road better than before, and you can also protect the steering box itself from future failures and impacts, since our brace is also designed as a skid plate. You simply cannot get this kind of quality and value from anybody else in the world.
How did we come up with this unique design? The answer is simple - we are Ram owners who were tired of sloppy steering. Other steering braces seem to fix the problem temporarily, but we found that they were actually wearing out our expensive steering boxes over time. We started to cut apart a normal brace and then added gussets, but it wasn't enough. Then he tied it in to the crossmember, created a skid plate in the process, and now we have the patent on single-sided Dodge Ram steering braces. This is the only brace that works as described, without damaging your steering box! You can only get this kind of ingenuity from someone who really knows Ram trucks, because we drive them. Call some other brace manufacturers and ask them what their daily driver is - 9 times out of 10, they are selling you something that they don't even use themselves.
All braces are test-fit on a 2nd gen frame before being sent out, to ensure that they fit every single time. We also have a full time welder who does nothing but steering braces, which is another way of making sure that the quality is consistent. These are backed with our lifetime warranty - break it, bend it, or otherwise damage the brace and we'll send you a new one. The bearing itself is a replaceable piece that typically lasts 3 to 5 years, sometimes longer if you keep them greased. We sell replacements for about $15 if you ever need a new one.
The brace is made entirely out of 1/4" steel, and our sector shaft extension is machined from 303 stainless steel. All other brands use a cheaper 1018 steel that is zinc-coated, but they still rust in a few months. All hardware needed is included and is Grade 8 (SAE) or Class 10.9 (Metric). You will reuse your existing steering box bolt. The DOR brace fits all 2nd gen steering boxes, except for the new PSC SG-850 box. See part number 1001-PSC for the correct brace for that steering box.
The DOR brace will fit all 2nd gen 4x4 trucks (1994-2001 1500, and 1994-2002 2500/3500), and the beam axle 2wd 3500 trucks.

Very heavy duty
Brace shipped quickly and was easy to install once I realized I'm a moron that can't read. THeir instructions are very clear. The brace helped my steering immensely.

Great Product and fast shipping!
I must say this brace for sure works. I did not think it would make that much of a difference but after putting it on and going for a quick cruise at least half of my steering play was gone. Very easy install and nice looking bracket and it sure helped even more so once i got the steering link kit installed. Now i just need to finish up the front end and hopefully not have any play in the steering.

My front end is horrible and just about everything needs to be replaced. Bought this brace to hold me off until I can buy the steering upgrade kit. It worked a lot better than expected. Steering tightened up A LOT and only really wobbles a little at or above highway speeds. Only issue I had was that there was a big spot that didn't get powder coated as well as a few chips in the coating. As far as performance goes this brace works magic on our sloppy 2nd gens.

A must have
Noticed a difference immediately, dramatic difference on highway canyon corners. If you aren't running this on your 2nd get you should be! For the price, this is the best and easiest upgrade to your steering you will find. Took me maybe 20 minutes to install and I really really took my time cleaning up the frame.

Great product
This brace really tightened up my steering and works exactly as it should. The fitment wasn't perfect in regards to where the mounting holes were located and some needed bored out larger, but I assume that is most likely due to differences in individual trucks. The reason I only gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the design for this brace holds water which leads it to rust quickly. I have had the brace on my 2001 Cummins for close to 10 months and the area that holds water was already completely covered in surface rust. As a quick fix I took the brace back off of my truck, drilled drain holes, and repainted and hopefully this fixes the problem.

Steering gear brace 98 Dodge Ram 3500 12valve
This product is stout and easy to install, it does what it says it does. Worth every penny. These guys do it right, above and beyond the competition for the same price or less. The welds are amazing and clean. I would recommend DOR to anyone who needs quality products for a fair price, you can't even build your own and expect to save money on their products, once you buy the materials your only saving maybe $50-100 and then you have to coat it. Their stuff is coated, ready to install.

i won this through the facebook give away . before it was on my steering stunk . i bolted this up in about 20 min . solved my hard steer on pavement. works like a charm . i highly recommend this item for any one with over sized tires . im sure it will even work wonders with stock sizes . thank you DOR .

Installed these on my 01 Dodge 2500 Cummins. The install went smooth and the directions are honest and easy. My only piece of advice for the installer is then when trying to insert/install the steering box bolt, it helps to install one of the three front bolts. Other than this, it went well! I'm pretty sure because it's so heavy and sturdy lol. Truck isn't influenced by road conditions as bad as it was. I recommend it for everyone, and have already!
