The original Dodge Ram aftermarket bolt-in steering kit, DOR's patented Heavy Duty Steering Kit is the upgrade you've been looking for!  This is the best steering linkage you can get for your truck, and one of the only ones that bolts in without modification to your knuckles or pitman arm.

This kit is a complete replacement setup, and includes:

  • New tie rod (knuckle to knuckle) - made from 1.5" OD x .250" wall DOM tube with steel bungs that we machine in house, and 7/8" shank chromoly heims, and our custom machined drag link mount.
  • New drag link (pitman arm to tie rod) - made from the same materials as the tie rod, using the same heims, and all stainless steel misalignment spacers that we machine.
  • Grade 8 fine thread bolts and locknuts to secure everything to your knuckles and pitman arm, without drilling - we machine tapered sleeves that slide into the knuckles and pitman arm that eliminate the need to drill anything.  These have replaced our chromoly tapered bolts in mid-2021 due to material shortages, and the fact that the Grade 8 upgrade has been a great improvement for installers.

Everything you need to install this linkage is included - you will not need to buy any additional hardware or modify your truck to bolt this on.  The only thing we do not include by default is the steering stabilizer clamp - this is an optional item but it is needed to run a stabilizer, if you don't already have a clamp that fits 1.5" OD tube.  Without a clamp, there is no way to bolt a stabilizer to the tie rod.  We also offer an option for heim seals.  They are neoprene rubber seals that go on either side of each heim joint and help keep the heim ball clean.  The idea is to put a little grease under the seals and they will help keep the grease in place.  Heim seals work well for customers outside of desert climates, but aren't necessary if you keep mud, salt, or grit from building up on the heim ball.

Don't waste your time or money on standard tie rod end setups like the Mopar 08.5 factory steering or similar aftermarket setups - heims are much stronger and are 100% legal in all 50 states.  We powdercoat the drag link and tie rod with a really nice looking satin black finish.  This is a much stronger steering linkage than any other bolt-in setup available - it's strong enough to finish the Mint 400 under a Ram race truck we sponsored!  The Mint 400 is known as the toughest off road race in America, it takes place in the brutal Nevada desert each year.  So many of our customers order our steering after they've already tried other upgrades and realized they aren't really much of an upgrade at all.  It does take us longer to build and ship steering kits out than most places, but we don't cut corners on anything just to fulfill a shipment, and we're not having parts of the steering made overseas or at outside fabrication shops.  It's all made here at our shop in Arkansas, just as it always has been.

DOR steering is built to take abuse - our focus is on off road trucks so we build everything a lot stronger than it needs to be.  This will be the last steering linkage you need to buy for your truck.  Many of our customers have sold their truck but transferred the steering over to their new truck, sometimes multiple times.  The only thing that can wear out are the heim joints and if/when they do, you just buy a new heim to replace the one that is worn out.  They can be replaced with basic hand tools (a crescent wrench is usually all you need) in a few minutes.  The nice thing about heims is that when they wear out, they don't fall apart like a typical TRE does.  And with the hardware we machine for this kit, even if the heim ever were to try and come apart, it is captured in place by our safety washers.   We machine every part for these steering kits ourselves, so even if you find a similar steering setup online, it's not going to be anywhere near the quality of our steering.  If you want the best, you found it here.

This fits all Ram 2500 4x4 trucks from 1994 to 2013

This fits all Ram 3500 4x4 trucks from 1994 to 2012

If you have a Mopar steering upgrade box on your 2003-2008 truck and are using the Mopar-supplied flatter pitman arm, you will need to select the 08.5-13 option instead of your year model.  We have a shorter pitman arm bolt that works on the flat Mopar pitman arm better.  If you have a drop pitman arm on the Mopar 08.5 box, then this does not apply to you.  We're only referencing the pitman arm that comes with the Mopar steering box retrofit.

If you have a 2nd gen 1500 model, please see part number 1013-1500 for the correct linkage for your application.

If you have a 2013+ Ram 3500 and 2014+ Ram 2500 4x4 truck with the radius arm front end, we have a replacement steering kit available for those trucks separately on the site.  Look up part number 1039.

This also fits the 2nd gen Ram 3500 cab and chassis 2wd trucks with a solid front beam axle.

    Incredible !!

I had purchase the trackbar from DOR a couple of years ago and I thought that made a big difference in my steering but I put on one of there steering kits a couple of weeks ago and wow. Now with both the track bar and steering kit the front end is rock solid. I had to come on here and let everyone know this is the kit you need to buy.

    Good stuff

Had a DT track bar on my last truck, decided to go with DOR this time. It's similar, just with better parts and less jam nuts. Really good product and worth the price.

Steering kit is as beefy as they say, install is easy, alignment shop didn't like adjusting it but DOR had some advice on that too lol Just check the jam nuts after you drive for a week and tighten them again, if they loosen up the steering can rotate down and cause issues. As long as that doesn't happen, no problems. It's a very solid upgrade and I'm glad I did it, my truck drives straight down the road now.

I've had this kit installed going on five years and it's been great. No slop in the heims. I've beat it up and it's kicking ass.

    Satisfied

Posted by Mike V on Sep 9th 2017

Steering took some time to ship, about 5 weeks, so I wasn't real happy about that. But when it came in, I knew it was worth the wait, We ran into an issue during install where the drag link ended up being too long for my truck, I called DOR and they made a shorter one for me because apparently my truck has sagged a little up front (it's a 20 year old truck with factory springs, I should have known). There wasn't enough adjustment in the stock to 3" drag link so they made me one for a lowered application, which solved the issue. Truck drives straight down the road and feels very tight, I'm satisfied overall with my purchase.

    Pay attention to instructions

Posted by Max on Sep 9th 2017

I was so excited for this purchase, after reading many reviews and looking all around for a replacement for my stock steering I thought this would do it. The kit seemed really great at first, and drove ok when I got it on, but it wasn't that much tighter than stock. I figured it was just the way steering should feel, but I called DOR tech support one day just to ask about it and they helped me get the steering lined up to remove almost all of the play that i had. It turned out that the shop who installed it didn't follow the instructions and had the tie rod angled down, so it threw off the drag link angle a bit, and that causes extra play in the steering wheel. Once I talked to DOR and got it set up the right way, I emailed pictures to verify everything was right and then I haven't had any issues since. I'm glad I took the chance to call because otherwise I probably would still have somewhat loose steering like before and just dealt with it! This steering really does have to be installed 100% correct or you can run into issues, so make sure to read the instructions and have your shop follow them too, then double check their work. Thanks DOR for helping me out!

    Awesome Product

Posted by Charles on Aug 6th 2015

Installed this kit on my 1996 dodge ram 2500 and am very happy with it, along with the other products I have purchased from DOR. Extremely high quality - I don't know how anything could be made any beefier. Easy install too. Only issue I had was that my truck has a high-mount stabilizer, so I had to weld a couple of tabs on the axle to use the Fox 2.0 low-mount stabilizer. No big deal. Very happy with my purchase!
